The column block is the square counterpart of the Arhitektur fence block: same split-stone face, same colours, half the length. Four of them make one course of a 40 x 40 cm pillar around a reinforced core.

Columns do the structural work in a block fence. They carry the gate hinges, take the wind load off the panels between them, and set the rhythm of the whole run — which is why their spacing is decided before the first fence block is laid.

Recommendation

Reinforce the column continuously from the footing to the cap — a starter bar that stops halfway is the usual reason a pillar leans years later. Where a gate hangs, say so at the design stage: the hinge side needs heavier bars and a deeper footing than a plain pillar. A corner element of 400 x 400 x 200 mm can be made to order if you want an unbroken face on a large pillar.
